Bissell SpotBot Pet and Little Green Carpet Cleaner Comparison
The Bissell Spotbot Pet is an excellent 14 lb carpet cleaner. It has an “automated smart cleaning system” which means you just have to place it on the stain, choose your cleaning mode and let it do its job. Of course, you can also use the Spotbot Pet manually like any other carpet cleaner you might be used to. It has a hose attachment and a hand tool for scrubbing.
The Little Green is a proven carpet cleaner. I can almost guarantee you’ve seen one before or know someone who has one. It is a product that has stood the test of time and has proven itself.
The Spotbot Pet weighs 14 lbs, while the Little Green, true to its name, is a bit smaller at just 8 lbs. Physically, the Little Green is also a smaller unit than the Spotbot Pet – 8.2 x 17.2 x 12.5 inches compared to the Spotbot Pet which measures 19 inches x 15 inches x 11 inches. This means the Little Green is much easier to store, although of course you trade that self-cleaning ability.
The Little Green, while smaller overall, actually has a larger water tank than the Spotbot Pet, at 48 oz. The Spotbot Pet’s water tank is only 32 oz, which means refilling more often. This can be a real inconvenience for some people, especially those with large areas to clean. However, for most of us who use our carpet cleaners as stain cleaners, this shouldn’t be too big of a deal. These two carpet cleaners have separate clean and dirty water tanks.
The Spotbot Pet is a bit more expensive than the regularly priced Little Green, largely due to its automatic cleaning feature. It is important to note that a sale can change this.
The Little Green is made from 50% recycled parts, making it the perfect choice for environmentally conscious users in their home appliance purchases.
Integrated water heater
The Little Green also has an integrated water heater. Lukewarm water cleaning may be more effective, so instead of waiting for the tap water to heat up and hauling hot water out of the sink, this carpet cleaner will do the heating for you. The built-in water heater can heat water 25 ° F more than what was in the tank and can heat up in 30 seconds. There is an indicator light to tell you when the water has heated up. There is no built-in water heater in the Spotbot Pet.
While the Little Green has a water heater, it’s definitely not a steam cleaner. The cleaning action works by spraying water and your cleaning solution on the stain, then rubbing the stain. Little Green’s suction mechanism drains dirty water.

The Little Green has a flexible hose, a spot brush for stubborn stains, and a spray crevice tool to get into little nooks and crannies. Because of that crevice tool and the Little Green’s small size, this carpet cleaner is a great option for cleaning your car and upholstery.
Besides the automated cleaning option on the Spotbot Pet, there are other great features of this cleaner. Although it’s heavier than the Little Green at just 14 lbs, it’s still a very portable small carpet cleaner. For its size, it has incredible cleaning power.
The Spotbot Pet uses Bissel’s patented “Deep Reach” method. This pushes the cleaner deep into the carpet, and that spiral brush on the bottom pushes the dirt out, while the suction power lifts stains from the bottom up. This method means the Spotbot Pet sprays cleaner and vacuum dries in one step, does a great job and saves you time. The cleaning head measures 7 inches in diameter on the Spotbot Pet, which means you can quickly clean a relatively large area.
While there is a manual mode on the Spotbot Pet, it’s hard to see why you wouldn’t use the automatic cleaning feature on the Spotbot Pet for most spots. Manual mode is great for things like upholstery and car cleaning, but for general spills and stains on your carpet or rugs, automatic mode would definitely be my choice.
Some users have found that the Spotbot Pet’s automatic cleaning feature does not do a good job of drying the carpet, so they end up with round discolorations where the carpet and cleaning solution have dried. These users recommend running the Spotbot Pet once or twice over the stain with only water in the tank to remove cleaner residue.
The Spotbot Pet has a 5 ‘flexible hose. The accompanying manual stain removal tool is 3 ” wide, as is the attachment that comes with the Little Green. The Little Green’s hose is quite short and is actually one of the biggest complaints from users about this model. The Spotbot Pet has a slightly longer power cord, 16 ‘compared to the Little Green’s 15’ cord.
Some users have found that the flexible hoses supplied with the Spotbot Pet can be prone to cracking if placed under too much stress. To prolong its life, remember to coil the hose loosely and not store it in a folded-up or squashed area. In many cases, users have found that cracked pipes are covered by warranty, but this does not appear to be universal and Bissell deals with this on a case-by-case basis.
Both the Spotbot Pet and the Little Green are backed by a one-year limited warranty from Bissell. For most repairs, you will need to take your carpet cleaner to one of Bissell’s approved repair agents rather than replacing it directly. Some users have had real difficulty contacting Bissel for prompt repairs or replacement.
Users who have had difficulty using the warranty recommend that you stay aware of Bissell if you have a warranty claim and make sure your claim is not forgotten or overlooked.
In this debate between the Bissell SpotBot Pet vs Little Green, you are faced with two very good options. However, it is not immediately obvious what you should choose, as there are some nice features on both of these models. The SpotBot, as the name suggests, allows you to place the machine on site for automated cleaning. On the other side, there is the Little Green which has the heated water feature. After reviewing the price, features, and customer reviews, we recommend that you go for the Bissell Spot Bot Pet. We really like this automated cleaning feature.
