Bissell 1940 vs 1806 Steam Mops Comparison and Review
Size and appearance
The Bissell 1940 and Bissell 1806 are both lightweight, corded steam mops. These two steam mops are roughly the same size, around 7 pounds when full. The 1940 Bissell has a white body with bright blue accents and a gray cord. This model can clean 12 inch area at a time with a swivel head to help you access any area you might need.
The Bissell 1806 also has a white body. Instead of bright blue accents, this model has dark blue accents, more localized to the front of this model’s body. The cord of this model is also gray. Much like the Bissell 1940, this model has a 12-inch cleaning path and swivel head to help you get into all the hard-to-reach places in your home.
The Bissell 1940 uses 1500 watts of power and the Bissell 1806 uses 12 amps of power. Each of these models also has radiators to heat the water in the tank which, for both models, heats up in just 30 seconds. A ready light indicates when the heater has done its job.
Customers have been impressed with the ease of use and cleaning of these steam mops. Compared to previous models from Bissell and other steam mops, many customers have reported that these not only clean, but even brighten floors when used on ceramic or tile.
On the flip side, customers said these would be easier to use if the tanks were slightly larger and the 1940 Bissell was sometimes difficult to control. The 1806 tank, however, is larger.
To clean these steam mops, you don’t have to worry about cleaning the water tank as it doesn’t use any cleaning formula. However, you have to worry about cleaning the pads on this mop as they are reusable. The best and easiest way to clean them is to soak them in laundry detergent and baking soda.

The Bissell 1806 has a slightly larger capacity than the Bissell 1940 with a 19 ounce tank. The 1940 Bissell isn’t far behind, however, with 16 ounces of tank capacity. The 1940 tank can be removed while the 1906 tank cannot. But the catch is, many users have reported that the 1940s fuel cap broke. The 1906 refills at the top and there is a mug included for
The cleaning path of these is 12 inches, providing a quick and thorough cleaning. It is also important to consider the size of these steam mops i.e. the length of their cords. The Bissell 1940 features a cord length of 23 feet while the Bissell 1806 is slightly longer with a length of 25 feet.
There are some drawbacks to these steam mops, but durability is not one of them. While there haven’t been many customers who have reported results after using these mops for years, very few customers have complained about the premature failure of these mops. However, if you have any issues during the warranty, Bissell won’t hesitate to help.
There aren’t many additional accessories with the Bissell 1806 and Bissell 1940 steam mop, but they both come with mop pads. These microfiber pads are reusable, so you also won’t have to buy new ones to replace them after every use.
While these steam mops don’t come with any accessories, they more than make up for it with all of the built-in benefits they offer their users. First of all, since these steam mops are corded, it is especially convenient that each of these models has a wire length of more than 20 feet. Both also have internal heating to provide hot water to vaporize your floor. These steam mops also have a light that turns off when these heaters have finished heating, which takes about 30 seconds on average.

Advantages and disadvantages
These steam mops are fantastic for cleaning and they have a lifespan that customers won’t complain about, but they’re much more than that. First of all, they are incredibly easy to put together, which makes assembly a short time before you can start and finish cleaning. Not only do they clean, but they go beyond what the standard mop does and brighten up your bathroom tiles and provide an incredibly deep clean. Since they are also quite small and light, they are easy to store when not in use. These are also just as economical, so you won’t have to consider balancing the product you love with the product you can afford.
Unfortunately, it’s not all good things to say about these steam mops. First of all, especially with the Bissell 1940 steam mop, it was sometimes difficult to push them across the floor to clean them. Some customers have also complained that they want the water tank to be larger in these models. Both are also corded models, which means they need to be plugged in while in use, so you need to stay some distance from an outlet.

The comparison between these two Bissell steam mops is incredibly close. However, the Bissell 1806 slightly exceeds the Bissell 1940 in my opinion. This is mainly due to the fact that many customers found it a bit easier to control than the Bissell 1940. On the other hand, it is important to note that this difference is slight, however, none of these do. makes a bad steam mop.
